The California Transition to School Backpack contains materials that promote early language, math and fine motor skills while getting parents involved. The California Department of Education created an activity guide to be used with the backpack and made it available on their website.
Just a few of the many components in this kit include:
Books - for encouraging at-home reading, as well as reinforcing basic concepts like counting and print awareness
Unit cubes - provide practice with math concepts like counting and patterning
Paintbrush, safety scissors and jumbo crayons - ideal for building the fine motor skills needed for writing |
